Trail Ultra Runner

What’s your favorite thing about your sport?

I love the trail/ultra running community! I’ve never felt more welcome, accepted and encouraged by runners of all levels.   And, I just love being out on the trail, challenging myself to see how far I can go.

What brought you to it? / How’d you get into it?

Four years ago, at the age of 46, I was talked into entering a 5K obstacle race… I had never really run before, so I figured I should start before that race! After that, and discovering barefoot/minimalist running, I proceeded to just enter races that were slightly longer in distance.  I worked my way up to my first road marathon in January 2013, but shortly after that discovered my love of trail running and haven’t looked back since!

What’s made you really proud/inspired/stoked about it?

First, I am proud that even at a later stage in my life I took control of my diet and exercise, transitioning to clean eating and a healthier lifestyle. That combined with a growing passion for running has helped me lose over 50 lbs and feel so much better.

Also, I was so stoked to have achieved my goal of running a 50K and a 50M race before I turned 50 in 2014!

What do you love most about traveling?

I just love seeing new places… whether it’s our amazing National Parks, or just cool places, it’s great to learn more about what’s around us.  I look forward to our annual family road trip every year!
